Lentz Eye Care Dry Eye Clinic

DO YOU SUFFER FROM DRY EYES?
Dry eyes can cause a vast array of symptoms such as:

  • A stinging, burning or scratchy sensation in your eyes.
  • Blurry Vision, clear/blur
  • Sensitivity to light.
  • Eye redness.
  • A sensation of having something in your eyes.
  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses.
  • Difficulty with nighttime driving.
  • Watery eyes, which is the body's response
to the irritation of dry eyes.
  • Computer fatigue

Often, dry eye is caused by blocked glands that excrete the oily outer layer part of the tears. A blockage of these meibomian glands
can cause insufficiencies in tear film thickness and tear instability, causing the tears to break apart when they shouldn’t.
This results in inflammation on the surface of the eye which can be triggered by a variety of factors such as:

  • Aging
  • Dry, dusty or windy climate
  • Insufficient blinking (such as when you’re staring
    at a computer screen)
  • Long-term contact lens wear
  • Medication side effects
  • Eye surgery

EVALUATE

To evaluate if Equinox LLLT treatment is right for you, we’ll do a Dry Eye Analysis. $50
The tear film is an important part of your eyes feeling moisturized and seeing well. Our doctors evaluate your tear film, which is made of three layers. In dry eye, one or more of these layers is often deficient. We also evaluate your Meibomian glands, the oil glands in your eyelids, which secrete the oil necessary for a healthy tear film. With loss of Meibomian glands in your eyelids, the tear film completely evaporates, which leads to blurred vision. Our doctors are able to obtain a microscopic view of these glands to measure their function.

TREAT

If we see that you are a candidate for this treatment. We’ll get you started on a treatment plan. Typically patients receive 4 treatments (over a 6 - 8 week period). Patients will receive a microwave heat mask to be used on a daily basis before and after treatment to help keep Meibomian glands open. On your 3rd treatment your Doctor will massage and express the MG to help new flow of oil into the tear film. After that, a single yearly
treatment may be recommended.
Each treatment $160

Equinox Low Level Light Therapy uses specially designed LED lights to gently warm up the eyelids, which causes the Meibomian glands to more easily secrete oil for a healthy tear film.
The treatment focuses on dryness and inflammation caused by computer use, contact lenses, medications, eye surgery, and aging among other causes.
