Dr. Katelyn Flood grew up in Pittsburg, KS and attended St. Mary’s Colgan Catholic Schools through elementary school and high school, graduating in 2013. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Pittsburg State University, majoring in Biology with an emphasis in Pre-Medicine and minors in Physical Science and Chemistry. While at
Pitt State, she enjoyed serving in leadership positions in the Newman Club and Honors College. Dr. Flood graduated Summa Cum Laude from PSU in 2017 and was recognized as the Outstanding Senior Woman
of the Class of 2017.
Dr. Flood continued her education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry, graduating in 2021. While at UMSL, she served as the Class President of the Class of 2021. Her clinical experience included time serving the veterans of Wichita at the VA Hospital, as well as Children’s Mercy in KC and a private practice in Springfield, MO. She also participated in an optometry mission to Haiti during optometry school. Dr. Flood has received several awards and honors, including the VSP/American Academy of Optometry Practice Excellence Scholarship, Dr. Ray Meyers Leadership Award and Optometry Visionary Award.
Dr. Flood is new to the Wichita area and is looking forward to exploring her new town! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family in Pittsburg, playing and watching sports, and diving into a good book.
