Summer is here and it’s time to take advantage of the delicious summer fruits that are in season! Everyone loves a good fruit salad, but why settle for just any old fruit salad when you can make one with fresh, vibrant ingredients? Here’s a quick and easy guide to creating the perfect summer fruit salad.

2/3 cup fresh orange juice
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups cubed fresh pineapple
2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
3 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
3 bananas, sliced
2 oranges, peeled and sectioned
1 cup seedless grapes
2 cups blueberries

Make it Sweet
Once you’ve chosen your fruits, you’ll need something to bring out their sweetness and make them even more delectable. If you want something that won’t overpower the fruits’ natural flavors but will still add a touch of sweetness and texture to your salad then try adding honey or maple syrup. Alternatively, if you prefer something a bit sweeter then consider adding diced dates or raisins for an added twist on texture.
Mix It Up
Now it’s time to mix everything together! Start by combining all of your selected fruits in a large bowl until evenly combined. Next add in your sweetener of choice and mix again until everything is nicely blended together. Feel free to play around with different proportions until you get just the right flavor combination—the beauty of making your own fruit salad is that there is no wrong answer!
