How to Make Wearing Glasses Fun for Kids

For many children, glasses can be a difficult adjustment. Whether it’s because they are worried about being teased or just not used to having something on their faces, getting your child to wear their glasses can be a struggle. But it doesn’t have to be! Here are some tips to help make wearing glasses fun for your child.

Be Patient and Positive
When helping your child adjust to wearing glasses, remember that this is a process that takes time. Don’t get frustrated if your child isn’t immediately excited about wearing them; instead, focus on staying positive and encouraging your child each step of the way. Let them know that you think they look great with their glasses on, and when they take them off remind them how much better they can see with them on.

Let Your Child Choose Their Frames
One way to make wearing glasses more exciting for your child is by letting them pick out their own frames. Bring them to an optometrist or eyeglass store where they can try on different frames until they find one that fits their style. This will give them a sense of ownership over the process and allow them to express themselves in the way they want to. Plus, it will make it easier for your child to adjust to wearing glasses since the frames will feel more like “their own” than something chosen for them.

Find Fun Accessories
There are plenty of fun accessories available for children who wear glasses, from colorful lenses and straps designed especially for children’s frames, so explore all of these options with your child and let them choose what works best for them! This will make wearing glasses more enjoyable for your child as well as help protect their glasses from getting damaged or lost at school or other activities outside of the home.
Helping our children adjust to wearing glasses doesn't have to be a struggle; there are plenty of ways we can make the experience fun and exciting! By taking our time, letting our children choose their frames, and finding fun accessories, we can help our kids become excited about wearing their glasses every day! With patience and encouragement from us as parents, our children will soon come around and embrace their new look with confidence and pride!
