Instructions

In a separate skillet over medium heat brown the ground turkey until cooked through. Once cooked transfer to the slow cooker and add in the black beans, tomatoes and diced green chilies. Stir everything together then pour over the spice mixture and stir again until combined. Cover with lid and cook on low heat for 4 hours or on high heat for 2 hours stirring occasionally if possible. When finished cooking remove lid from slow cooker and top with desired toppings such as green onions or sour cream before serving.

  • 1 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, chopped
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground turkey

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 28-oz. can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 1/2 c. low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • Shredded cheddar, for garnish
