Make Your Own Salsa - A Beginner's Guide

If you’re a fan of traditional Mexican flavors, you’ve probably tried your fair share of store-bought jarred salsa. But if you want to take your next taco night up a notch, it’s time to ditch the jarred stuff and get creative with your own homemade salsa. No matter what level of cook you are, making your own salsa is surprisingly easy. Here is a beginner's guide for making a delicious tomato salsa in no time!

The ingredients for this salsa are simple and can be found at any grocery store. Start by gathering 2 pounds of plum tomatoes (they have less seeds than other varieties). Next, add 1 large onion (white or yellow), 1-2 red or yellow bell peppers, 1-2 jalapeno peppers (for extra spice!), 1 tablespoon lime juice, salt, and chopped fresh cilantro to taste. Once you have gathered all of your ingredients, it’s time to get chopping!

Start by slicing the tomatoes into small cubes. Next, dice the onion into small pieces as well. Then seed and dice the peppers (remember to wear gloves when handling the jalapenos!). Finally, chop the cilantro leaves finely before adding them to the bowl along with all other ingredients. Mix everything together until blended evenly. At this point you can adjust with more lime juice or salt if desired. And voila – now you have a tasty batch of homemade salsa!

Serving & Storage
Now that your salsa is freshly made, it’s time to enjoy it! Serve it on tacos or burritos for an added kick of flavor or use it as a dip with chips for an easy snack. Store any leftovers in an air tight container in the fridge and consume within 5 days – but we doubt that will happen because this stuff goes fast!

Making your own homemade salsa may seem intimidating but trust us – once you try it once you won’t go back to jarred stuff ever again! This beginner's guide makes it easy for anyone from novice cooks to experienced chefs alike to whip up their own delicious batch in no time at all. So don't waste another minute – grab those ingredients and get chopping! You won't regret it!
