Protect Your Vision Health During Workplace Wellness Month

Our eyesight is a precious gift, and it’s something we often take for granted. We know that we need to eat healthy foods and get the right amount of exercise for our bodies but rarely consider our vision health. Workplace Wellness Month is here, and Friends For Sight wants to remind everyone that its easy to incorporate workplace eye safety practices and invaluable to maintain long-term vision health.

According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), nearly 2,000 people injure their eyes while working in the United States every day. That’s why it’s so important to protect your vision health during Workplace Wellness Month—and beyond! Here are some tips on how you can protect your eyes at work:

Wear Eye Protection Gear – Make sure you are wearing proper eye protection gear if your job requires it. This includes industrial goggles, face shields, welding helmets, or any other type of protective eyewear that is required by OSHA regulations or recommended by your employer. Not only will this help prevent accidents from happening in the first place but also protect your eyes if an accident does occur.

Take Breaks – Whether working at a computer or doing manual labor, make sure you are taking regular breaks throughout the day. This will help keep your eyes from becoming strained or tired and reduce the risk of developing an eye injury from overwork.

Keep Your Area Clean – A cluttered workspace increases the chance of an accident occurring due to tripping hazards or objects falling onto you or someone else nearby. Keeping your workspace clean not only helps keep everyone safe but also creates a more comfortable environment where you can focus and do your best work without worrying about potential accidents occurring around you.

Taking care of our vision health at work should be just as important as eating healthy foods and getting enough exercise for our bodies. By following these simple tips during Workplace Wellness Month—and beyond—you can ensure that both you and those around you stay safe while protecting their long-term vision health. Remember, any type of eye injury can have lasting effects if not treated immediately so don’t take any chances with your vision! Take care of yourself and those around you by staying aware about workplace eye safety practices this month!
